In order to be eligible for a Disabled Students’ Allowance, a student must provide evidence of a disability or specific learning difficulty to their funding body. (Student Finance England, or Local Authority).
If you are physically disabled or a have mental health condition, you will need to provide medical evidence.
Students with a specific learning difficulty will need to provide evidence in the form of a Diagnostic Assessment, carried out after a student’s 16th birthday and by an educational psychologist or specialist teacher.
The Diagnostic Assessment is not funded by the Disabled Students’ Allowance. However, on arranging your assessment we may be able to identify alternative sources of funding.
