Access South West with Plymouth University is situated on the university campus in Plymouth, Devon

Our main facilities (including reception and two assessment rooms) are on the ground floor with a further assessment room on the first floor. We have accessible toilet facilities and car parking is available on request.

The centre contains all the specialist equipment recommended for the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) and can be demonstrated by our assessors.

From Plymouth railway station
The railway station is just a few minutes’ walk from the assessment centre. There are two options but both involve a gradient that could be challenging for a manual wheelchair user. If necessary, we can arrange for a taxi to collect you.

Avoiding steep hill
Exit the station and turn right, head up the hill (A386), use the pedestrian underpass towards the campus but turn left and proceed up the steps into Portland Villas. Turn Left into James Street and right by the James Street Vaults public house into Portland Square Lane North. Turn left into Portland Mews. We are the building to the right of Buckland House.

Short and sharp
Exit the station concourse and turn left then next right up the hill by the car park and turn left into North Road East. Cross at the zebra crossing and head towards James Street. Turn left into Kirkby Place, at the end bear right between the bollards and make your way towards Kirkby Lodge. Turn left and left again into Portland Mews. We are the building to the right of Buckland House.

From the city centre.
Make your way towards Drake Circus, bear right up North Hill. Cross the road and walk between the Portland Square building and the Sherwell Centre. Turn left by Nancy Astor building into Portland Square Lane North. Turn right into Portland Mews. We are the building to the right of Buckland House.

By car.
If you are using Sat Nav please use PL4 6RU which will take you to the entrance to the cul de sac Portland Mews. Our parking space is clearly marked in the top left corner of the car park opposite the centre entrance. We are the building to the right of Buckland House. Parking on campus is severely restricted we have one dedicated parking space but this must be pre-booked with us prior to your appointment.
